Stage Your House!

Getting a home ready for sale : Staging is frequently inexpensive and shouldn’t take much time.

Items for consideration:

Declutter: Probably the most important thing you will do is declutter your home. before you move is the perfect time to purge anything that is unwanted but you also might want to consider packing up excess décor, personal items such as photographs of family,  If a buyer thinks your home feels crowded by your belongings, they may worry it won’t have enough space for them. Go ahead and pack up the extra stuff now. It will save you time when your home goes under contract and will help it look better now too.

Tone Down Color: You may have chosen special paint for every room of your home and it may look great to you but when a potential buyer walks through your home and sees 10 different colors at one time, it can be too much and be a big turnoff having them consider a lower price or thinking it is not the home for them.  Consider neutralizing the paint throughout the home. Today neutral paint isn’t all ivory. There are some great neutral options that still have some personality without being over the top. Some buyers may want custom colors but they likely won’t be the same colors you chose. If your home has neutral paint throughout, the buyer can go ahead and move in and paint when they have the time. They may not feel the same way if your bathroom is lime green. If you are making updates, paint is one of the least expensive things to change so you will get a lot of bang for your buck.

Picture Perfect Setting: When you walk into a hotel and the bed is freshly made and towels hanging neatly, it feels so good. Make people feel that way when they come in your home. All beds should be neatly made with pillows arranged attractively. Put fresh towels in the bathrooms and kitchen. Put the dishes in the dishwasher. Pick up newspapers and magazines off the coffee table.  All of these are simple and free things you can do that will make your home feel inviting when buyers come inside. A helpful hint, check out model homes in your area, it will give you great ideas to include "the in" wall colors  for you to consider!
