St Lucie County FL ~ NATIONAL NAVY SEAL MUSEUM
NATIONAL NAVY SEAL MUSEUM
The National Navy SEAL Museum and Memorial is located in Fort Pierce, Florida.
It is recognized as the birthplace of the U. S. Navy Frogmen.
From 1943 to 1946, thousands of volunteers were trained as members of Naval Combat Demolition Units and Underwater Demolition Teams here. The World War II Frogmen have evolved into an elite fighting force : the U. S. Navy SEALs. The Mission of the Museum is to preserve the legacy and history of the this special group of men.
The National Navy SEAL Museum and Memorial was formally dedicated in November of 1985 and is the only national museum in the state of Florida.
In 2007, by Act of Congress, the Museum was designated as the Official National Museum of the U.S. Navy SEALs. However even with this designation, the Museum receives no federal funding and is entirely reliant on private donations.
